About

Jaime Secrist is a second year Masters student at California State University San Marcos. She is a U.S. historian, with a background in literature and political science.

This website was created as the digital accompaniment to Jaime Secrist’s Masters thesis in history. Her thesis explores the way that the American government has encouraged the population to grow gardens, with a specific focus on the World War II victory garden and its enduring memory. Jaime’s thesis argues that government-endorsed gardening has been a part of our history and continues to be a fundamental program supported and endorsed by our government in our society today.
