Four Freedoms Speech
FDR Presidential Speech
FDR's address to the nation. This speech emphasizes the role that America plays in bringing freedom and democracy to the world. One of the points is Freedom from want, which is interpreted as freedom from wanting food. The Four Freedoms speech is an example of how FDR viewed freedom, and the idea that he equated freedom with having enough to eat, because if a person does not have enough food, they are a slave to starvation which is the opposite of freedom.
